What is Child Support?

The amount to be paid is determined at a hearing in the Court of Common Pleas.  In Geauga County this is either the Juvenile Division or General Division.

Child support is a particular amount to be paid monthly, continuing until the child reaches age of majority: usually age 18 or completion of graduation from an accredited high school.

The administrative order or the court order to pay child support is an enforceable order.   The failure to pay child support is a duty taken very seriously by both the Geauga County Prosecutor’s Office and the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas.
